Agent Carter

If you are a fan of the Marvel movies, I would recommend watching "Agent Carter." It follows Peggy Carter's life after the "death" of Captain America, and how she attempts to be taken seriously as a spy and a person in, well, the late 1940s.

I think it is an interesting time period, because women had spent the war doing most of the work back home, and then all the men come back from the war and women, who've had (I wrote six, but this is set in the US so it is actually more like three and a half to) four years of being able to do things that were previously the purview of men and shocking women are being pushed out of the positions and independence they had become kind of comfortable in.

I think it is handled pretty well, and the main showrunners are (in an unusual turn of events for media) both women, so it has an actual realistic take on how women act like, well, people. Like how people act, and not automata who all hate other women (which is a trope that gets kind of old).

And it just got renewed for a second season, so, win!

  1. I've been waiting to see this, it does look really good! It's on my watch list for when I get internet again and get re-subscribe to Netflix.
