I just finished the novel "Gone Girl" and learned that it is going to be made into a movie, starring Ben Affleck.
And can I just say it's a pretty perfect casting decision?
Remember back in the day, Affleck and Damon were all buddy-buddy, making movies together, and Matt Damon was the charming, laid-back guy, and Ben Affleck is the guy who just looks like a total douche all the time?
The lead male character in the novel is supposed to be a guy who just naturally looks like a douche.
So it is pretty perfect. Good job, casting director!
I'm interested in seeing how the adaptation goes.
In other news, applying to jobs is annoying. I've applied to a couple dozen jobs already, and I'm just sitting and waiting to hear back from them. Call me back, people! I might not be experienced but I am intelligent and will probably do a better job than many experienced people (if my experience in every other job I've worked is anything to go by).
Booo! I don't want to move anywhere until I get a new job, obviously, but my current job is driving me crazy. They didn't give my friend and coworker our other friend and coworker's wedding day off, or even a later start for her shift so she could attend the wedding, which makes me so mad. They could have asked someone from our other property to work a couple of hours that evening, as one of our workers goes over there all the time, but they didn't want to bother.
I am definitely mad about that!
Also, it's really annoying to try to find a car.
Ha! Ben Affleck is definitely a good choice to play someone who looks like a douche. It's a role I think he can do really well *lol* He just... fits.
ReplyDeleteJob searching sucks. I hope you find something soon. Let me know if you want a hand looking over your CV/personal letter. I did used to work in recruitment! To be fair.. I have an old one that I use as a template for everyone *lol* I made one for my brother a while back, and he had five replies by the next day... But I honestly think that was just a fluke. Did make me laugh though!
Sounds awful that your job wouldn't at least give your friends a few hours off. At the moment I work with finding subs for our many workplaces - and we always do our best to make sure everyone gets the time they want off. Even if it means moving stuff around a bit. Seems silly they would refuse when they seem to have had a fairly easy fix basically within arm's reach.
I've had a few people check over my résumé, and I think it is pretty good! It's just the lack of experience and the fact I have to apply online that's working against me. As my friend said, when you hand a résumé in in person, they can see you're dressed well, make eye contact, are well-spoken, personable, etc. They don't get that from online résumés. So I'm at a bit of a disadvantage there! But again, moving before finding a job would be a bad idea (because I am pretty sure my cousin and/or friends wouldn't want me living with them when I go broke, haha), so here we are.
DeleteVery true, that's always a disadvantage when applying from far away. Eventually you'll get someone to look though - and it'll all happen :)
DeleteAdmittedly I've never walked into anywhere to hand my CV in, but then we're weird with our "personal space" in Sweden and they'd probably just think I was a lunatic anyway *lol* Nice and easy, over the phone - it's how us viking people do it :D
There's a funny image out on the internet that illustrate Swedish people perfectly: http://i.imgur.com/g2DQgr5.jpg
I was expecting a tall, handsome blond Viking man, but that works too! :D
DeleteWell... My brother's single... *lol*
DeleteJust kidding... Now I feel compelled to make a top 5 of hot Swedish men. But to be honest... Other than Alexander Skarsgård I can't think of a single tall, blond *lol*
Hot is good enough! :D
