A frequent guest who stays here used to live in Russia, and his wife and daughter still live there. My name, being Tania, is obviously of Eastern European origin so I get asked all the time whether I'm from Eastern Europe, and with him, I'd usually say "So I'm told, but I don't know for sure!"
So now I know for sure (Germans in Ukraine, a few generations, possible intermarriage), and he was like "Ahh, with those blue, blue eyes with the slight almond shape. And that part of the world is notorious for having some of the world's most beautiful women."
No, he wasn't hitting on me, he's just super friendly, which is probably why I'm okay with accepting that compliment and feeling pretty good about it instead of being weird and uncomfortable like I usually am.
But that was a nice compliment!
