Dragon Age 2

Right, so I finished Dragon Age: Origins (AND I WAS SO SAD TO DO SO) and started Dragon Age 2, where you play Hawke, a male or female rogue/mage/warrior.

Some things about the newer game I like, and some things I don't. I wish they had the character portraits in the top left again, rather than the bottom left, because as a hardcore WoW-player I am used to looking there for health bars.

Another thing I kind of don't like is how bodies explode sometimes. Like, they'll break apart and collapse into a head over there, a limb over there, a hand here. It seems excessive, and kind of ridiculous.

But one of the things I do like, like I liked in the last game, is the lack of overt over-sexualization of the female characters. Some dress sexier than others, and I am 100% okay with that, because that is real life. It's not realistic for ALL women to dress like nuns, or ALL women to dress like prostitutes showing off their wares.

See the happy balance?
The person on the far right is a dude. The other three are (bad-ass) ladies.
The lady-warrior, on the far left, is wearing extremely practical armour for her job. She is a warrior, she tanks and takes a lot of hits, she dresses like someone who's going to take a lot of hits.

And I fucking love Bioware for that.

However, one thing that kind of irritates me is how the females run. They're so ridiculously feminine. Like, arms out, limp wrists, everything. In the first game, the females ran like men (no swaying hips, mostly), which was unrealistic, but then they went too far in the other direction for this game. They're doing a Dragon Age 3, so I hope they look at how Skyrim dealt with lady-runs. Swaying hips without limp wrists.

Another thing I enjoy is the combat animations. Like, my rogue does these flipping jump thingies to get towards a target and does like backflips and shit. And I think it's great.

Basically I am (obviously) obsessed with these games and thing you should all play them.

  1. I will play them! I will! Once I find the time... *cough*

I do really enjoy the idea of the games, and I had started at one point. But then my computer broke down and I lost my progress, and since then I just haven't gotten around to playing again. Since then I got them for my PS3 though, so going to be interesting to see how they play on a console.

    1. I'm so used to PC commands, I forget how to play on consoles sometimes. Haha.
