I've been completely obsessed with cocoa lately. I guess because it's warm, and I never am, it's comforting, and it's chocolate.
But here is something I discovered, even though I'm sure many people already knew this - a tiny bit of cinnamon in it makes it amazing. Absolutely amazing. Not a huge amount - you can't even specifically taste cinnamon if you put in the right amount - but a certain amount lends this amazing depth of flavour, and extra warm note, without being "chocolate and cinnamon" (which I have never liked too much together) and still being noticeably different.
So, the way I make my hot cocoa:
-1 tbsp cocoa powder (I use Fry's)
-2 tbsp sugar
- approx. 1/8 tsp cinnamon
-1 tbsp cream/half-and-half
-1 cup milk
Mix together cinnamon, sugar, and cocoa, and then blend in the cream to make a paste. You can either heat the milk on the stove and add it, or add it cold and heat it in the microwave. Whatever you prefer!
And then, drink it. Yum!
