So, here we are. I'm going to share with you a couple of sites that collect hilariously terrible cover art for books.
This one is novels in English. And I can't imagine what some people were thinking when they made those covers!
Apparently, it inspired a Polish blogger to collect terrible covers of Polish books, too. And I think what is most funny to me about this (as obviously, I don't speak a single word of Polish) is the covers of translated books. I mean, I know that book covers can vary quite a bit from country to country (England seems to have the best covers), but look at those C.S. Lewis covers! They are the stuff of nightmares. (Which, considering a clip I was once sent of an 80s Polish children's show, definitely fits.)
Also, I'm not currently planning on reinstating my previous posts. I'm going to leave this as impersonal as possible this go around. I am considering making it private only to certain readers, though. The only problem with that is I have one of my regular reader's emails...

ReplyDeleteAnd those covers are hideous! I suspect my friend's 5 year old could do better drawings than some of those. (Then again, who knows.. maybe the authors' had their kids do the covers!)
Cracked.com has an article about crazy and misleading movie posters, and nearly all of them are Polish and all the Polish ones are totally terrifying.
